I have been watching your work for a while now, and because I've noticed myself loving almost all of your works, I thought it's time for a proper critique on one of them. (sorry for the bad english that's about to come)
Fisrt of all, your technique is absolutely stunning. You have a beautiful way of mixing realism with mystique and surrealistic influenses (or that's how i see it). Your brush working looks alive and rough, which is good, because very often artworks that have been worked to perfection kind of loose the "edge" in them. This kind of "un-finished" looking style makes the picture unique and interesting. It almost looks like it's a traditional painting. The theme of this work continues the feeling of your previous works. There's a beautiful woman who appears to be just normal, but the emotion of the picture and the look in her eyes make the viewer think that there has to be more than that to the picture. You start to wonder, where is this woman from? Just what is on her mind? I can see there's a lot of story and emotion behind this picture. The layout of the picture is pretty traditional. It's not surprising, but it's beautiful. And even though it's a simple subject, there's still a lot of things happening in it: her meaningful look, tattoos/make up, hairdressings and earrings make you think she's going somewhere, but that she isn't too happy to be going there. The vibrant and bright colors brighten up the otherwise a bit gloomy athmosphere. The one thing that slightly bothers me is the contrast of this picture. When I compare this to some of your other works, like Fire Goddess or Hunter, I feel that this one lacks some of the contrast that makes those works stand out so much. All the colors in this one are about equally bright. I miss a bit more contrast would make the work stand out more. Also, I think her face might look even better if it was slighlty sharper (as in more detailed).
All in all a very stunning, emotional work with beautiful colors and a lot of untold story behind it. My final score for it is 4/5, and it's 4 just because I think some of your other works are a bit better.
The soft brush touch on this definitely adds to the surreal, almost ethereal appearance of this subject, and as always I'm such a sucker for tiny details, flaws and imperfections that make a piece of artwork unique. The slightly rough effect on her shawl/scarf are particularly nice, a sort of abstract realism that draws the eye. Her tattoos are very nice, accenting her face while not stealing the show that is her piercing gaze. For a huntress though, I think her hair is a little showy, but gorgeous nonetheless. Then again she might not be hunting animals or beasts but men and women, so her allure would work in her favor. The corona around her makes her stand out beautifully from the background while at the same time working nicely to offset her warm colors. A fantastic piece for sure.
